Sebastian Telfair, fresh out of prison, offers a Diddy update: ‘Holding it down’

Sebastian Telfair has a newfound appreciation for Sean “Diddy” Combs after their prison time together.

The ex-NBA star, released this week from FCI Fort Dix after serving a prison sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release in connection with his health care fraud case, provided an update on the disgraced rap mogul — just hours after becoming a free man again.

“I met some good people – shout out Diddy,” he told TMZ. “My son Diddy is also in the spot. I can’t imagine how Diddy felt, but Diddy is holding him, he is doing what he has to do. Wherever he is, they will help him.”

Telfair did not go into details about Diddy, who is in the middle of a 50-month prison sentence at Fort Dix on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution — a violation of the Mann Act.

“We all know Diddy’s business,” Telfair said. “Diddy lived a rock star life. I’m glad he’s getting time to relax and, as my boys inside will say, take some time for yourself. Diddy is in a good mood, he’s still Diddy. Diddy will be Diddy wherever he is.”

The 40-year-old Telfair, a first-round pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, revealed he is joining Ice Cube’s Big3 basketball league — which may or may not meet the job requirements of his parole.

In the meantime, he is happy that he left earlier than expected and can spend some time with his family again.

“I felt great, I felt rehabilitated. I got to see my babies today and kiss them everywhere,” he said. “I thought I was coming home two days after Christmas.”

Telfair spent 10 years in the NBA, playing for the Trail Blazers, Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers, Suns and Raptors, averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 assists and 1.6 rebounds over 564 games.

In 2021, the Brooklyn native was one of 18 former NBA players charged with filing false and fraudulent claims for reimbursement through the league’s health and welfare plan. He pleaded guilty in 2023 and was sentenced to three years’ probation.
