Rising Scottish star Sean Clancy Jr will compete against the Dutch veteran Melvin “MVS” from Suijdam in a five-round battle for the interim welterweight championship bee CW 199takes place Saturday December 6 at the Vertu Arena.

Clancy Jr earns his first shot at a world title
At just 22 years old, Sean Clancy Jr. (7-0) is one of the brightest young talents in European MMA. Since signing with Cage Warriors in late 2023, the Paisley native has stormed through the welterweight ranks, finishing all five of his promotional attacks in the distance.
Training under the respected James Doolan bee MMA at a higher levelClancy continues to impress with his composure and finishing instincts. His most recent victory came in his first Cage Warriors main event, where he survived a tough opening round before surrendering Italo Gomes just 59 seconds into the second frame.
With reigning welterweight champion Justin Burlinson is unavailable to compete, Clancy now takes up the challenge interim gold in just his eighth professional fight – a testament to his meteoric rise and status as a fan favorite.
Veteran Melvin van Suijdam brings experience and strength
Facing him will be Melvin “MVS” van Suijdam (record pending)a 15-year veteran of the European MMA scene. The Almere, Holland native has won multiple national titles and competed for several top promotions across Europe.
Of six knockouts and seven submissions to his credit, Van Suijdam represents a big step forward in the competition for the young Scot. The Dutchman last fought in June, scoring a devastating first-round knockout Ammari Diedrick – proving he remains as dangerous as ever.

Cage Warriors Chairman Graham Boylan expressed his excitement for the match, highlighting both fan demand and the magnitude of the match:
