In Week 10, the Seahawks kept up their dominant streak with an upset 44-22 win over the lowly Cardinals. And in traditional Seattle fashion, it was an unheralded defensive standout who accounted for Seattle’s seventh win this year.
Sophomore linebacker Tyrice Knight received a starting nod in Week 10 when stud Ernest Jones IV sat out due to a knee injury. Knight certainly made the most of his opportunity and put in a great all-round effort.
Knight played only four pass-rush snaps, but they dictated the flow of the game. He collected two sacks by hitting the ball away from Arizona starter Jacoby Brissett during blitzes, with each loose pigskin returned by DeMarcus Laurens for a touchdown. Granted, Knight’s ability to pass occurred on a very small sample size, but it resulted in a staggering PFF score of 97.4 on initial review.
As far as coverage goes, the UTEP product was almost as effective. On 31 coverage snaps, Knight allowed just two catches for 10 yards on three targets. His other attempt was a failed interception in the red zone in the third quarter. Ultimately, Knight posted a stellar preliminary PFF coverage grade of 83.1 and just a 71.5 rating when targeted.
Knight’s collective efforts produced an excellent overall PFF grade of 93.4 on initial review, the highest among all defensive players who scored at least 10 times in Week 10. In fact, that turned out to be one of the best single-game outings by a linebacker all season.

*Grade pending final assessment
How elite was Knight in Week 10? His overall rating would be the highest in a game of any Seattle defenseman this season, which is an incredibly impressive threshold considering how well the team is united. Additionally, that 93.4 overall grade would be the best by a Seahawk defenseman since the start of the 2024 season, tying safety Julian Love in Week 1 of last year.
The 2025 campaign has been quite a challenge for Knight, a budding starter in 2024 who was effectively benched in Week 6. However, showings like the one he put together in Week 10 make it nearly impossible for him to get off the field.
Knight’s performance in Week 10 is emblematic of a Seahawks defense that is arguably deeper at all three levels than any other in the NFL, with seemingly new names making an impact each week. With Seattle sitting at 7-2 and tied for the best in the NFC — thanks to a defense that ranks fifth in EPA per game — Mike Macdonald’s team is making a noise that’s hard to quiet, and soft-spoken names like Knight’s are the biggest reasons why.
