Former Chicago Bulls guard Ron Harper reflected on Phil Jackson’s perspective that Scottie Pippen was better than Michael Jordan.

Harper emphasized Pippen’s versatility, saying he “has a lot of basketball skills, has a high IQ, understands the game and knows how to play the game.”

He noted Pippen’s ability to shoot, dribble and defend multiple positions, describing him as “a phenomenal talent” and “a great teammate to have.”

While praising Pippen, Harper singled out Michael Jordan’s impact in clutch situations, calling him “the best game-day clutch player to ever play the ball game.”

Harper explained that Jordan could help a team through a 10-, 12- or even 18-point deficit, claiming, “He’s going to want you to win.”

The former Bulls guard highlighted the duo’s complementary nature, suggesting Pippen’s skills underpinned the team’s success, while Jordan provided the decisive lead at critical moments.

Harper’s comments shed light on the Bulls’ dominance in the 1990s, where Pippen’s overall contributions combined with Jordan’s finishing ability to create a nearly unstoppable combination.

Pippen’s defensive versatility allowed him to guard players from positions one through five, making him invaluable during the championship run in Chicago from 1991 to 1998.

Jordan’s ability to perform under pressure was second to none, performing consistently in play-off and finals situations where games were decided by a single possession.
