Scottish Hockey is pleased to announce the appointment of the former International Vikki Strachan as his new head manager – performance in a seconded role for the next 18 months. Strachan brings with it for more than 20 years of exceptional experience of the high-performance sports system, so that its history is uniquely combined as Scotland
and Great -Britain Hockey player, a national team coach and a performance leader in it sportScotland.
A highly motivated and valued professional, Strachan has an unparalleled insight into the performance path from all corners. Her proven track record in the powerful sport is defined by strategic and operational planning, working cooperation and leading interdisciplinary teams to achieve sustainable success.

Her extensive experience in managing high-quality systems with sportScotland, combined with her intimate knowledge of what is needed to succeed at the highest level in hockey, makes her the perfect person to work together with important stakeholders to shape the future of performance in Scotland. She embodies the integrated, collaborative approach that we know is crucial and is necessary to achieve our ambitious goals. “
In her most recent role as High Performance Manager at sportScotland, Strachan contributes to strategic and operational performance planning with national administrative bodies, which means that the coordination is for global standards and best practices. She brings this system -wide expertise back to Hockey, in addition to her operational experience as a general team manager for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023.
The appointment of Strachan represents a kind of return home. She served as an assistant -coach for the senior program of Scottish Women’s Senior until 2023, which contributed to campaigns, including the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. Her understanding of the athlete experience is deep personal: she earned 204 caps for Scotland (2006, 2014, 2014), world’s beaks, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014, 2014. She also earned 14 caps for Great Britain and was part of the centralized program for the Olympic Games in London 2012.
