She has Sass (What the hill) Today I got a few favors when she cleaned up Maiden Rank at Winton.

When the two favorites Wicked Annabella and my Bonnie Lass broke, she jumped Sass in a few places.

“I’m not going to lie. It has brought a bit of a smile to my face. Hey, first starters under racing day busy can make a big difference,” said Chalmers.

Driver Matty Williamson positioned that she received Lady Whistledown behind the pacemaker and when the passing job presented, Williamson pushed her through to beat Lady Whistledown with half a length.

“It is very encouraging right now because she has never been a horse that wants to hit the line. But Matty said today, she wanted to find the line.”

She has SASS owned by Chalmers, Marg Bradley, Ethan and James Crowe and Kane White.

“I advertised for a trotter because I had a few guys who wanted one. Dave Ironmoner called me and asked me if I would take her because he had had enough of her. She has been a difficult horse to train. She had problems and muscle problems, so we had a lot of nutritional changes. It seems that we finally have brown.”

Chalmers only trains four horses on the beach of Waikouaiti and is helped by Bradley.

“You can no longer have the horses of the bread and the butter type that will be sixth or seventh, so we just try to get a few nicer horses.”

Nigel’s father Graeme also trained and more than fourteen seasons he had nineteen winners.

“I think I have now trained more winners than he (22). I will remind him of it on the way home. Although he probably wants to argue about it,” he said laughing. “I think he has a few years on me.”
