We might look for it during our vacations, in our meditation apps, or during the next weekend getaway. As an American-born Sadhu and globally respected spiritual teacher, I teach that healing begins much closer than we think.

It starts at your home

Our homes are sacred sanctuaries. When we purify them, we purify ourselves. Whether we are aware of it or not, the house is a container of energies of those who have lived in it, worked in it or spent time there. When we think about healing and purifying our hearts, minds and souls, it is important to think about the home as well.

In my more than five decades of mentoring spiritual seekers, wellness leaders, and heart-centered households, I have seen a profound truth unfold again and again: when we declutter our living space, we clear the path for joy, clarity, and divine connection to flow into our lives.

What is freeing up space? A sacred invitation to upgrade

Decluttering the space isn’t about minimalism or design trends. It’s about energy: the subtle, invisible atmosphere that fills our homes and influences everything from how we feel to how we sleep, eat, communicate, interact and create.

You’ve probably felt this before:

  • The heavy weight in a room after an argument.
  • The musty, misty feeling in cluttered corners.
  • The inexplicable lightness in a sacred place or forest hut.

These are energetic imprints. They are important. And they are changeable.

Clearing space is ‘spiritual hygiene for your environment’. Just as we shower our bodies, we also need to clear the emotional and energetic residue from our spaces – so we can live from lightness, not lingering burdens.

The vibration of home influences the vibration of life

Your home is not just a shelter. It is an extension of your energy field. In ancient traditions – from Indian Vastu to Japanese Shinto, from Chinese Feng Shui to honoring the native earth – every space is believed to hold memories. Emotion. Spirit. Intention.

Our thoughts, words and actions leave imprints. Over time these accumulate. They can support – or block the evolution of your Soul.

If you have felt the following:

  • Chronically tired or mentally scattered
  • Emotionally triggered or uninspired
  • Spiritually disconnected despite your best efforts

…your home may be part of the cause, whether you are aware of it or not.

Clearing, blessing, and sanctifying your space does more than just clean. You give your Soul permission to relax, reset and rise.

Sacred Space Clearing Ritual: A Step-by-Step Guide

Rooted in Vedic wisdom, Hawaiian blessing and universal sacred law, the approach I have developed for clearing space is simple, intuitive and deeply transformative. Here is a more detailed version of this process, designed for regular households, families and searchers alike:

1. Prepare with reverence

Before you begin, enter the space as you would a sacred temple. Wash your hands, take off your shoes, light a candle and take three slow breaths.

When you are present, the room listens.

Say a calm intention: “May this be a time of purification and peace. I offer this house to the divine light.”

2. Open all windows and doors

Even when it’s cooler outside, you can open the window to shift the energy. As the air flows in and out, visualize the release of stagnation and the entry of new energy.

Imagine that your home exhales and inhales innovation.

3. Use nature’s tools to clear energy

You can use:

  • Sage or Palo Santo – for general cleansing
  • Sandalwood or frankincense incense – for sanctification
  • Essential oil sprays (lavender, rosemary, lemon) – for gentle cleansing
  • Salt bowls or Himalayan salt lamps – to absorb density
  • Sacred Energy Light Bulbs – for cleansing negative energy

Walk slowly clockwise through each room, paying particular attention to corners, doorways, cabinets, and under furniture. These are places where energy tends to collect.

Say out loud:

“I let go of what no longer serves. May this room be filled with light, joy and divine presence.”

If you are emotionally sensitive, pause to feel each room. Some spaces can bring sadness, fear or anger. Breathe in that feeling. Then bless it. You are the alchemist.

4. Add sound and sacred frequency

Use sacred music, chants or singing bowls to break stuck patterns.

I recommend:

  • Chant your favorite prayers and mantras
  • Bells are ringing
  • Play singing bowls
  • Play sacred music
  • Play specific frequency tones
  • Play shamanic drums any way you want

Sound is medicine. Let it resonate in the walls and floorboards. Let it wake up your house.

5. Offer blessings for the purpose of each room

Pause in the center of each room and place your hand over your heart. Talk to space:

  • In the living room: “May joy, connection and harmony fill this space.”
  • In the bedroom: “May this be a sanctuary of peace, intimacy and sacred dreams.”
  • In the kitchen: “May our meals be blessed and our food holy.”
  • In the nursery: “May love, laughter and wonder protect and uplift.”
  • In your home office: “May this space be aligned with purpose, clarity, and service.”

Your words shape the space. They create a vibration imprint. Let them be joyfully holy.
