The Ryka Podflow is an ideal shoe for women who do daily shopping, walking, training, cross training in the gym and interval training. It offers a comfortable and supporting fit with a beautiful design!
Okay, so I don’t believe I once bought a walking shoe or actually walked in a walking -specific shoe, so I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Rykä Podflow Walking Sneaker. As a runner, trainer, Mom, of course I walk, but in my running shoes! I am sure that many of us are guilty of this!
Usually running shoes are more flexible, pillow and can offer more stability, while hiking shoes are designed for comfort and support, while they also have a flexible sole. It is actually very important that we Do not use our running shoes for every day. This was a big chance for me to ensure that I followed that golden rule!
As a runner, the first thing I did was bow them into my hands to test the flexibility of the sole. Surprisingly not too flexible in the midfoot, but more flexible in the forefoot. I slid them on my feet and they felt nice!
I could certainly feel the arch support and spacious fit. The articulated POD design also looked very cool and turned out to be great conversation starters.
- Wide feet: Nice, spacious fit and available in medium or wide width.
- Heavier walkers: The damping and sustainability make it a great choice.
- Long walks: The extra bow and heel support makes this a great entire day shoe.
- Fitness Walkers: This is a shoe designed for the entire day clothes and training sessions.
These shoes have a great design and appearance, plus a lot of science behind it! The Rykä shoes are specially made for the foot of a woman and these shoes are versatile! From walking, to fitness lessons to hours at work, I put them to the test!

Ryka PodFlow overview
Before we dive into more details about the Ryka Podflow Let’s pass how Ryka shoes are designed for women.
Every pair of shoes, regardless of the activity, will be based on the Ryka Q technology.
“Our game-changing technology is based on the ‘Q-Hoek’, the inner corner of the Quadriceps muscle that is 3-4% large in women than men, which influences a women’s attitude and weight distribution on her feet.”
If you are not sure which Ryka shoe suits you best, take the Ryka -ShoeZoeker -Quiz directly on their website.
Because Ryka shoes are designed for women, the structure of the shoe is a bit different than most. You will notice that there is a wider forefoot and a narrower heel for a safe fit.
The midsole is made of Activergy ™ translucent Eva foam that offers a soft and responsive midsole cushioning. The pods along the sole of the shoe also offer targeted support for each part of the foot and at the same time promote the natural movement. The heel has a nice rocker and the pod along the arch feels a bit firmer, which helps to promote a natural feeling while walking or exercising.
While I pulled them out of the box, they were very white, or rather brilliant white! Don’t get me wrong, I love white shoes, but they just don’t stay white here in the dusty Sonoran Desert!
These shoes were very comfortable straight on the box. I wore them to work where I stand on my feet all day, ran on both flat and hilly terrain, she was wearing a cardio conditioning lesson and to train in the gym where I used the elliptical machine and step mill.
The brilliant white color attracted a lot of attention and I had many questions about the shoe. The design of the shoe is beautiful and looks good to just do some shopping.
Compared to a running shoe it felt stiff in the beginning, but after they had worn them to work and on some walks, they felt great!
If I am active and don’t think of the shoes on my feet, it is usually a sign that the shoe fits well and is really comfortable. Although I felt that the sole was not super flexible, the 25-degree forefoot inflexibility must have been exactly what I needed, both on hill and flat terrain or while giving a fitness class!

Ryka Podflowow Fit
In the first instance, the bow support was very noticeable in the shoe. I have low arches and usually do not choose shoes with high arch support. However, I got used to it and it never bothered me while exercising or walking.
I have wide feet and felt like these shoes were spacious enough without ordering a wide width.
As with almost all my shoes, I used a heel slot with the laces to give my heels a more cozy fit. I loved the quilted collar around the heel and had no rubbing and appreciated the heel and tongue loops to put on the shoes.
I had zero rubbing on the toes and the toebox felt a lot spacious, even while I walked past steeper hills. I did not feel that the energy -referee was something special on these shoes, but I have no other hiking shoes to really compare them.
The pod design on the sole offered a natural feeling while I was moving and I didn’t feel limited while walking. The heel to toe drop is slightly higher than what I normally wear, but found them comfortable and I did not feel unstable with the higher stack height.
I wore these shoes for hours and they felt good on my feet all the time!
Ryka PodFlow -feeling
These shoes feel more stable than squishy, Yet they did not hurt my feet after they had worn all day at work and take a walk.
Zuidariazona is hot and dry and I love shoes that are breathable, so the mesh dust was cool and not at all restricted while it was on the way.
I also love how there is reflective underlay near the logo on the sides of the shoes that are visible in the dark!
Not only does the insole offer extra arch support and beautiful heel support, but it is made with partially recycled Eva. I always appreciate companies that try to reduce or reuse materials!
The outsole is made of compression -dressed rubber with a disconnected hiel rocker and Arch Support Pod. The articulated pods are innovative in offering both kisses, natural movement and stability.
These shoes are not only specifically designed to match women’s feet, they are also approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association and have granted the seal of acceptance for products that promote good foot health. The podflow was also tested in a laboratory for an energy return, overpronation prevention and the right amount of flexibiity
