The Rungraewee of Thailand “Legatron” Sitsongpeenong carries the struggles of his family every time he gets into the fight. The journey of the lightweight striker from Cassave fields to Global Stardom represents the transforming power of Muay Thai.

Sitsongpeenong is confronted with Youssef Assouik in lightweight Muay Thai promotion on One Fight Night 34: Eersel vs. Jarvis on prime video On Friday, August 1 at the Lumpinee Stadium of Bangkok. The 29-year-old is looking for redemption after his knockout loss for George Jarvis last November.

Growing up in the province of Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand meant breaking back work before Rungrawee reached double digits. Rice fields and agriculture consumed daylight hours while poverty ran over his family. Those hardships forged determination that brought him to the largest stage of martial arts.

The third of the four brothers and sisters understood early sacrifice. Every contribution did when parents had difficulty offering needs. Whether it is about digging cassava or taking care of crops, Rungraewee accepted responsibility without complaints.

His Muay Thai introduction came at the age of 8 when his brothers started training locally. Initially cautious, Sitsongpeenong discovered passion that reformed its existence. That first Temple Fair competition only earned him five dollars.

Years that sharpening provincial circuits preceded his 25th Isuzu Cup victory in 2015, which confirmed his place under the elite of Thailand. That triumph opened doors for one championship.

“Life was quite difficult for me. I worked on the fields, gave farmers and groove cassava with my parents,” he said.

“My journey in Muay Thai started when I saw my brothers practice. So I asked to train with them, just to have something exciting.”
