Roods blow a different lead when the athletics De Sweep – Redleg Nation completes

The Cincinnati Reds gave up four home runs on Sunday and blew a 3-0 lead in Sacramento on Sunday. With the athletics that took a 7-4 victory, they were able to complete a 3-game Sweep that dropped the Reds under the .500 on the season.

The game started a nice start for the Reds when they packed a solo-home run by Noelvi Marte in the 1st and got a 2-run home run from Will Benson in the 2nd inning to take a 3-0 lead. That is where the score was until the bottom of the 4th. Nick Lodolo gave up two solo-home runs in the inning and four hits in total when he and Cincinnati held up a 3-2 lead.

The next inning went well for Lodolo when he relatively ease the first two of the inning, but then he hit Jacob Wilson with two and Nick Kutz followed a go-ahead 2-run home run. In the first half of the 6th inning, the Reds received a walk from Pinch Hitter Austin Hayes and a 2-out single from Jose Trevino, but they were unable to capitalize the chance and both runners saw stranded.

In the bottom of the 6th, athletics was tackled on another run when Brett Harris doubled. The next inning they would tackle two more runs when Nick Kurtz expanded the inning with a 2-out walk and then Brent Rooker hit his 29th Homer of the Year to turn it into a 7-3 Balgame.

Sal Stewart would hit a solo -home run in the 8th inning to lower the shortage to three runs. That was the last hit that the team would get when they were swept in Sacramento with the athletics that took a 7-4 victory on Sunday.

Important moment of the game

The Brent Rooker 2-Run Home Run in the 7th that made the score at 7-3 and really put a stamp on the comeback for athletics.

Notes worth mentioning

Noelvi Marte and Jose Trevino were the only Reds with several hits because they each went 2-4.

During the series, the Reds received 10 home runs. They only reached five home runs. They were surpassed with 21-9.

The Mets won on Sunday and left the Reds back to 2.5 games with 13 games to play.
