Roman Anthony stayed in the Majors in rare air in his first few months.

After he reached base three times in the 7-5 victory of the Red Sox on the Marlins on Saturday, the on-base percentage of the Rookie Outfielder De .400 surpassed. He now has a .405 on-base percentage for the season.

That brand would be the third best in baseball if Anthony had enough record performances to qualify. Only Yankees superster Aaron Judge (.445) and Dodgers-Catcher Will Smith (.413) have been better in the base this season.

Unfortunately for Anthony, he almost certainly does not get enough record performances to be eligible for the competition in statistics such as on-base, Slugging percentage or OPS because of his call in June. The rest of the season should at least seven record performances per game on average to reach that threshold.

That would also exclude Anthony to have one of the best on-base percentages for a Rookie in recent memory. Judge’s .422 on-base percentage In 2017 was the best figure for a Rookie since 1951. A year later, Juan Soto registered a .406 on-base percentage as Rookie, but he did not have enough record performances to be eligible for the all time leaderboard.

While the on-base percentage of Anthony that comes in on Sunday is less than the Marks judge and Soto has set up as Rookies, his on-Base percentage is historically impressive after his first 10 games in the Majors. He has a .439 on-base percentage since 21 June.

If Anthony had a full season in the course of a full season .439 on-base percentage, that would be the best for a Rookie since 1939 and the sixth best figure ever for a first-year player. It would also be better than the on-base percentage that Ted Williams had in his Rookie season (.436).

Speaking of Williams, Anthony placed herself in a different category with the Red Sox ‘of all time on Saturday. His third inning Double was his 17th of the season, making him the fourth player in the history of Red Sox to hit so many Doubleers in their first 55 games. Williams, Dom Dimaggio and Jed Lowrie were the other three.

Anthony joined Williams earlier this week in a few other historical signs. After recording four walks and a home run in Tuesday’s victory, Anthony became the youngest player since Williams to do that in a game. He also became the first Red SOX player since Williams with at least 20 extra basehits and 20 walks due to their first 51 career games.

Because Anthony’s damage has recently come since his switch to the lead-off place on July 27, the Rookie said that he feels the responsibility to become possible in any way to help the rest of the line-up.

“I think that only understanding the boys I have behind me makes it much more comfortable with me,” Anthony told reporters on Saturday. “Just try to be perfect with getting a pitch to hit and ensure that it is something that I can do damage with and cannot leave it to the boys behind me and take my walks.”

With the careful eye and approaching of Anthony on the record, Red Sox teammate Alex Bregman called the Rookie “one of the best batters in all baseball” already after his ninth inning walk helped them to beat the Marlins on Friday.

‘He is very mature, and you see that when [he went] 0-Out-4 in Houston with a few punch outs against a really good arm, and then you hit twice [Sandy] Alcántara, and then you will not go outside and Chase will touch your next two perches, “Bregman told reporters on Friday.” You let them throw the ball over the plate. And I mean, the plate discipline is crazy for its age, and also the maturity not to try too much in those situations is special. So beating behind him is great. ‘

And yes, Anthony is aware of the historical comparisons that he has recently drawn with his great game on the album.

“It’s great,” said Anthony about the historical comparisons. “I think when you are in the conversation with one of those guys, you do something good. It is even better to just be in base, score runs and help the team win.”
