Rohit announced the end of his test career on Instagram at the beginning of May. Only a few hours before this announcement there were reports that the BCCI selectors had decided to remove his test capincy before the next series against England.

On May 7, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement Van Test Cricket, just over a month for the long -awaited series against England. This decision was discouraged by many fans, because they say goodbye to one of the greatest modern cricketers and the then captain of the test team. Rohit recently shared insights into his father’s reaction to this important milestone in his career.

During an event on the occasion of the launch of the book by Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife, ‘The Diary of A Cricketer’s Wife: An Unusual Story’, Rohit revealed that his father, Gurunath Sharma, always has been an avid admirer of test cricket, who has a clear preference. Gurunath in particular showed little enthusiasm when Rohit set a world record with his remarkable innings of 264, the highest individual score in a day of internationals (ODIs).

Rohit, on the other hand, noted that when he even scored a modest 30 or 40 runs in test competitions, his father would involve him in detailed discussions, full of excitement about his performance.

“My father worked in a transport company. As I said, what my mother did, my father was very involved in sacrificing things so that we could have our lives. But my father has always been a fan of test cricket since day one. He doesn’t love this New-Age Cricket. Rohit said at the launch.

“But even if I used to get the 30s or 40s or 50s or 50 or 60, in test cricket who talked to me in detail. So that’s the kind of love he had for the game. And he clearly saw that you went up the ranks,” he added.

Rohit shared that his father felt a bit abandoned when he first announced his retirement of test cricket. But in the end he was really happy with it.

“My father of course saw me play a lot of cricket with the red ball. So he appreciates Red Ball Cricket a lot. And then he was clearly a bit disappointed when I announced my retirement. But was also happy. But that is my father. And he clearly played a major role in where I am today. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. Without their help. staff.
