Big names are missing as Mumbai opts for fresh faces
Particularly Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswaland young candidate Ayush Mhatre have been left out of the selection. Instead, the selectors have given opportunities to some lesser-known players as part of Mumbai’s squad revamp.
Chinmay Sutar, who previously represented India Emerging in four List A matches in 2019, has earned a recall. Uncapped batsman Ishan Mulchandani has also been included, while fast bowler Onkar Tarmale makes the cut after his recent IPL selection by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mix of experience and youth in the team
Besides Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, the team includes reliable domestic artists such as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Siddhesh Lad adds stability to the middle order, while the wicketkeeping duties are shared by Akash Anand and Hardik Tamore.
The spin department is handled by the well-known duo of Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, which provides balance to the bowling attack.
Mumbai group and match schedule
Mumbai have been placed in Group C for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. They will start their campaign against Sikkim in Jaipur on December 24, followed by a match against Uttarakhand two days later.
