Rogers is extending the trial period for free satellite services until December

Rogers has extended the trial period for its satellite service by just over a month.

According to text messages sent to Rogers Satellite beta users, the trial will now end on December 8, 2025, instead of October 31 as initially planned. Mobile Syrup confirmed that both Rogers customers and customers of other carriers who signed up for the free trial will receive the extension.

While it’s great to see the free beta expanding, giving users more access to the feature, we wondered why the trial period was extended. At the request of Mobile Syrupa spokesperson for Rogers said:

“We have had strong customer interest since launch and have extended the Rogers Satellite beta trial, allowing even more time for Canadians from any carrier to sign up and for existing beta trial participants to enjoy the service for free.”

Additionally, anyone using the trial may want to set reminders to cancel on or before December 8. Rogers’ website notes that trial participants who do not have a Rogers Ultimate subscription will automatically be charged for the Rogers Satellite service once the beta ends. Rogers Satellite costs $15 per month, but beta users get a $5 discount for the first twelve months.

It’s also worth noting that Canadians don’t necessarily have to use Rogers Satellite to get satellite services. Apple offers free satellite options to iPhone users, and Google launched its own Satellite SOS service for Pixel phones in Canada earlier this year.

Rogers first launched its beta version of satellite services in July 2025. Powered by Elon Musk-owned SpaceX’s Starlink, Rogers Satellite provides text messaging and text-to-911 services across 5.4 million square kilometers across the country, and since launch the company has expanded coverage to operate over Canadian waters. Rogers plans to expand the service to include full voice, data and other services.

Currently, Rogers Satellite is compatible with the iPhone 13 and newer, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and select 2024 and 2025 Motorola Razr and Edge devices. The company also stated that the Galaxy S10 and newer models, as well as all Google Pixel models, should also work but are not “satellite optimized.”
