Rob Edwards keen to bring Wrexham star to Wolves after departure from Middlesbrough News: The72 – Football League News

Wrexham defender Conor Coady is wanted by new Wolves boss Rob Edwards as part of his coaching staff, according to the Telegraph.

Wrexham were active during the summer transfer window as they prepared for life in the Championship. Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney strongly supported the club and invested to give them the best chance of success at a higher level.

However, despite notable signings such as Callum Doyle and Nathan Broadhead, the Red Dragons are not yet in the Championship. Another summer signing was experienced defender Conor Coady, who has struggled since dropping to the Championship.

Now a report of it the Telegraph has claimed that Coady could be given a route back to the top flight, but not as a player. After confirmation that Wolves have appointed Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwardshe wants to bring Coady in as part of his coaching staff.

The report claims the move is unlikely at this stage. Coady played for Wolves when Edwards was coach there before his managerial career began.

Could Wrexham be open to letting Conor Coady go?

While the report claims a deal is unlikely to be possible, it may not be impossible. Despite only joining from Leicester City this summer, Coady has already lost his place in Wrexham’s starting XI.

Currently, Dan Scarr, Mac Cleworth and Dom Hyam are all ahead of Coady and have been a big part of the Red Dragons’ recent upturn in form. Phil Parkinson’s side are currently three games unbeaten after wins over Coventry City and Charlton Athletic, as well as a draw against Portsmouth.

Coady has made just one appearance in Wrexham’s last six games in all competitions. That came in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.

Given that Coady is likely to be one of Wrexham’s highest earners, a deal could be considered. It could open the Red Dragons up for even more big moves in the January window.

What next for Wrexham after the international break?

The Red Dragons will be one of the few teams that didn’t want the break. They hope this has not put an end to their good run as there are some tough matches ahead.

Ipswich Town are their next opponents with a trip to Portman Road on the horizon. They face Bristol City the following Wednesday, after a very good start to the season for the Robins.

If they can remain undefeated after these two tough games, it will stand them in very good stead. It could be the platform Wrexham needs heading into January.
