Now that Mike Conley 38 becomes before the season starts, second -year guard Rob Dillingham will play a greater role. There is some division between Minnesota Timberwolves fans about whether Dillingham is ready for a greater role. The attacking gifts of Dillingham are clear, but there are great concerns about his defense on 6-foot-1.
As Rookie, he was only on average 10.5 minutes, 4.5 points and 2 assists. Anyway, his attacking gifts are clear. Dillingham’s mix of shot creation and dazzling playing play is the exact skills that the wolves need.
An underestimated aspect of Dillingham that gets a greater role is how this will influence the great man Rudy Gobert. Dillingham is an underrated passer and thrives mainly as a LOB Passer. To maximize his attacking skills, Gobert needs a high -quality passer -by. As a result, playing alongside Dillingham will benefit him.

Dillingham will unlock Gobert and vice versa
For years we have seen how playing alongside an experienced LOB passer in Conley Gobert has benefited. Now we will see how Dillingham helps to increase Gobert’s game. This last season in particular, Gobert had an average of 12 points, which is the lowest he has had on average since his third season. In the Play -Offs he was on average only 7.9 points per match. This is directly connected to Conley’s decreasing offensive impact and role. Yet Conley and Gobert placed a net rating of 8.9 and an attacking rating of 115.9 when they shared the court.
When Conley was off the floor and the wolves were left without a traditional floor general, Gobert struggled. Van Gobert’s 341 made field goals was 65.9 percent of them Dunks, so playing alongside an experienced LOB Passer is essential.
Although the advanced statistics with Dillingham and Gobert do not stand out, they only played together in 25 games and 194 minutes. Dillingham and Gobert will undoubtedly develop some chemistry with more court.
The advantage of this combination could not be clearer. Dillingham’s ability to throw Pinpoint Lob and access passes helps Gobert to have a bounce-back offensive season. Likewise, Gobert’s screening will help open the game for Dillingham as both a playmaker and scorer. The Elite Rim protection of Gobert also benefits Dillingham. Although the defense of Kentucky’s product is certainly a concern, it will have that elite back line of support help him.
In the end we didn’t see much of this combination during the Dillingham Rookie season, but with an increased role the potential of this duo will be clear. The combination of Dillingham’s Playmaking and Gobert’s makes this combination mutually beneficial.
