HAMILTON, NY – RIT freshmen forward William Moore scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the Tigers’ 3-1 win at Colgate Friday night.
Moore broke a 1-1 draw with 6:00 minutes left in regulation time for the senior forward Simon Isabelle scored on an empty net goal with 9.9 seconds on the clock to seal the victory. Senior forward Tyler Mahan opened the scoring early in the first period with his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Second goalkeeper Jakub Krbecek won his fourth straight match and stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT got on the board at 6:49 of the first. After the Tigers won a faceoff in the Colgate zone, sophomore defenseman Ryan Wiliams cycled a puck from the top left corner of the zone along the blue line to Allen along the opposite boards. Allen took a wrist shot on goal that was initially saved off the pads of Raider goaltender Reid Dyck, but Mahan corralled the loose puck and scored inside the left post.
- Colgate responded at 11:22 with a power-play goal after a Tiger hooking call. Michael Neumeier grabbed a puck, end to end, splitting the RIT defense and scoring with the bar down over Krbecek.
- The game was scoreless until Moore blocked a shot at the top of the RIT zone and chased the loose puck in the neutral zone for a rush the other way. Moore split two defenders on his way to goal before slamming on the brakes and ramming a backhander into the left post at 2 p.m.
- RIT sealed the game in the final seconds on a freshman forward Zach Wigle hit a pass to senior forward Austin Brimmer to create a rush the other way, finished by Isabelle.

- RIT surrendered its first power-play goal in 16 penalty kill attempts, dating back five games to the season opener against Sacred Heart (Oct. 10). The Tigers have killed 18 of 20 power plays in six games this season.
- RIT finished the game with a 21-15 edge in shots on goal, allowing the fewest shots in a game this season.
