Team India Keeper-Batter Rishabh Pant created history by scoring hundreds in both innings of the first test against England in Headingley in Leeds. Before that he ended a miserable form of form in IPL 2025 with a sparkling 118* from 61 balls in Luckknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Last league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Although the keeper battered ended up on the wrong side of the result in both games that were played in different sizes, his return to form good for the Southpaw and Indian Cricket as a whole. It is also a just reward for all the hard work he has put behind the scenes.

According to a report in The Times of IndiaIn March of this year, Pant decided to make some major sacrifices to try to focus full attention on cricket. The TOI report claimed that the 27-year-old removed his WhatsApp and switched off his mobile phone and only switched it on if he felt the need to communicate.

Speaking with the newspaper, India’s former power and conditioning coach Sohum Desai revealed that pant brought himself through the rigorous training to keep himself in shape when he was gave birth during the Champions trophy. Desai said:

“He did the most intense sessions, day in day out. He dragged me to the gym when he was free. He did not care for fatigue or workload programs. Everything he said was that he had to continue working on himself. On the day of the final he came to me with a kind of guilt in his mind and asked if he could take the day.

“Pant has so much reserve that it will be good for at least a year without having to do anything extraordinary. That is why you see him moving so well despite the scoring of two hundreds and holding wickets in the Headingley test for so long,” Desai went to add.

Kl Rahul preferred pants as the keeper batter in the 2025 Champions Trophy, who then won India. The latter is no longer the first choice stumper in the T20 format and Sanju Samson seems to have secured the place.
