Saba Karim said Rishabh Pant should have taken some responsibility as captain of the team but instead he got out while playing a rash shot at the wrong time.
Rishabh Pant is once again under the scanner in shot selection
Pant is serving as alternate captain of Team India in the ongoing Guwahati Test against the World Test Champions, South Africa. He was given charge after Shubman Gill was ruled out of the match due to his neck injury.

Rishabh Pant had a poor start to his career as Test captain as bowling rotations did not work at all, and the Proteas posted a huge score of 489 in the first innings, and in response India were bowled out for 201.
Expectations were quite high from Rishabh Pant but he failed miserably and got out for 7 runs off 8 balls. On the second ball of the 38th over, Rishabh Pant suddenly charged down the track and hit a short delivery from Marco Jansen for a boundary.
However, Pant failed to make a good connection with the ball and could only slide the ball back to keeper Verreynne.
Perhaps, for the first time in his Test career, Rishabh Pant may not be able to explain this – Saba
Saba Karim was left furious when she saw Rishabh Pant stepping out. He said there can be no explanation as to why Pant went for such a shot and shot it, saying he should have taken some responsibility as he was the senior professional in the playing XI.
“You cannot get any meaning out of this. How do you explain this? It is very difficult. Perhaps for the first time in his Test career, Rishabh Pant may not be able to explain this.
“This happened right after tea. You are the captain of the team, you have to bear some responsibility. You have enough experience of playing at that level. So you set a good example. You lead by absorbing pressure and taking hits,” Saba Karim told ESPNCricinfo.
The only thing missing from Rishabh Pant’s approach: Saba Karim
Saba Karim further backed Rishabh Pant to play his natural cricket but urged him to be more responsible in the middle. The former Indian gloveman believes Pant’s terrible shot selection put India far behind in the match and they are unlikely to recover from it.
“All that was missing from Rishabh Pant’s approach. I can understand that you have to play your natural game, but you can do that by spending some time at the crease.
“Playing such risky shots at this stage of the game pushes your entire team into a corner. Now India are in such a difficult position. It will be very difficult for them to get out,” Karim added.
