Reunited with Devries Duo, Conor Enright is ready to give a good example: ‘He knows no other way’

In a room full of new faces, someone who already knows the culture can be a great help.

For Indiana’s new father-son Duo, head coach Darian Devries and Wing Tucker Devries, that person is a well-known one: Conor Enright, a filthy guard who played in Darian from 2021 to 2024 in Drake.

Now one of only two players in the Indiana schedule of 2025 who has first -hand experience with the Devries system, Enright is in a leading role. Despite the fact that he spent last season at Depaul, he has embraced the chance to guide teammates and put expectations in practice.

“Having two boys who have experienced it helps a lot,” said Enright. “We have tried to lead, whether it is about exercises or play – just set the standard and have the expectations we should have.”

Enright, which is 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, consistently sets the tone on defense and deserves a reputation as a spark plug for his team.

Whether it was to bother the best player of an opponent for 94 feet or to come from the weak side to take the lead, the Mundelein, Illinois, Native has not been afraid to put his body at stake for his team.

That drive not only appears on Gameday, but also appeared on the practice floor, as the Senior Redshirt has been in Indiana Basketball’s practice for the media on Wednesday afternoon.

Enright did not purchase any representative during the hour -long exercise and played a fierce defense on the guards of the opposite colored sweater, regardless of whether they were a teammate or an employee who participated in an exercise.

Enright was constantly moving around the gym. Even during breaks of exercises, his voice carried out of the sidelines as he led the traffic in Cook Hall.

The willingness to take every representative at 100 percent intensity not only helps Enright himself, but it also pushes his teammates to get better.

“Conor becomes Conor at the end of the day,” said Lamar Wilkerson. “Whether there are 100 people here or it is just me and him, but he is definitely a scourge.”

The annoying character of Enright’s game does not end in the defense. Before a seasonal shoulder surgery last season, Enright, who started all 23 games, was a difference maker in the attack.

Enright quickly became one of the best passing point guards, not only in his team, but also in the Big East, on average 6.2 assists per match for the Blue Demons.

Although he only appeared in 23 games, his 143 assists still ranked him under the top 10 in the conference. During his first season of Power Conference Basketball, Enright moved five or more assists in 16 games and had seven double doubles.

Wednesday’s practice was the first view of Enright since the injury in February and there were no signs of limitations prior to his last year of suitability.

Enright supplied many high-IQ theater pieces on Wednesday and often made the extra pass to set up open shots. While passing is his attacking force, he also showed that he can drive to the basket and end strong, as well as a 3-guide.

For Darian Devries, seeing Enright on the practice floor has reminded him of one of the first times that he saw him play in a summer basketball game.

“He had zero points and dominated the game,” Devries recalled. “He pushed on the floor, took charge and drove everyone into the other team crazy; he is just one of those guys.”

Admittedly, he grew up a fan of Wisconsin’s basketball, will probably form Enright in a Brad Davidson roll, making him a player that Indiana fans will love while he comes under the skin of opposite fan bases.

Although there are still more than three months from the season opener, Darian Devries is convinced that Enight Hoosier fans will put on the first time he takes the floor in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

“He doesn’t know another way,” said Darian Devries. “I think people will really enjoy it to see him play.”
