There is a rescue effort going on in Wa’s Great Southern after a man only injured his at one of the highest peaks of the state.
The rock climmer fell and injured his only near the top of Bluff Knoll, 400 kilometers southeast of Perth, around 6.30 pm on Saturday, said the Department of Fire and Emergency Services of Western Australia (DFES).
The location of the man, a side track used by climbers, instead of the most important walking path to the top, has made rescue attempts challenging.
DFEs sent the rescue helicopter of West -Australia, but the plane could not work in fading light and was recalled.
SES -Beniningen from Albany and Gnowangerup were sent and reached the man just before 11.30 pm.
After assessing the situation, rescuers made the decision to leave the wounded man on the bluff at night.
A spokesperson for the WA police said that the man and a woman had walked and climb and that they had advised that they had enough stocks and equipment to stay in place.
The temperatures in the area fell at night in the single digits.
Ses Crews returned to the first light, around 7 am, on Sunday and reached the man shortly thereafter.
The man is stuck in a more isolated part of the bluff that is preferred by rock climbers. ((ABC Great Southern: Andrew Stok))
There is an assessment of the situation.
The spokesperson for the DFEs said they are looking for ways to bring in the Rescue Chopper to borrow the man from the isolated location.
It follows a wave of accidents in the Great Southern.
A woman was laid in safety after a trench in Torndirrup National Park, and a man in the twenty fell out of the rocks near Zalmgaten in April. He is believed dead.
Crews were also sent to Bluff Knoll on April 20 to save a person from the base of the peak.
