Report: William Nylander of Maple Leafs eliminated vs. Jets, questionable for Monday’s game against Wild
“He’s still being evaluated. He’s questionable for (Saturday),” Berube said of Nylander after Friday’s practice. “That’s a good question. I can’t answer that. With the last one I thought it would be faster, and obviously it wasn’t. We’ll just see how he feels going forward. I can’t really answer that question.”
Nylander leads the Maple Leafs with 48 points (17 goals, 31 assists) in 37 games. If he’s out long-term, it would be crushing for a Maple Leafs team fighting for a playoff spot in a closely contested Eastern Conference race after a dismal start to the year.
Toronto is entering a tough stretch of its schedule, with the Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabers in the next five games following the conclusion of the road trip. Going this route without Nylander will be a real test for a team that has been able to generate consistent offense all year, as he is the most dynamic playmaker on the Leafs.
