Report: Richie Ledezma, Brian Gutierrez complete one-off move to Mexico – SBI Soccer

Two former U.S. men’s national team players have reportedly completed their one-time move to Mexico.

The one-off move of Richie Ledezma and Brian Gutierrez has been approved by FIFA, ESPN reported this on Tuesday. The news comes after both players were called up by El Tri for friendlies in January against Panama and Bolivia this month.

Ledezma, 25, previously played for several U.S. youth national teams before making his senior debut under then-USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter in 2020. He registered two assists on his debut in a 6-2 win over Panama.

The midfielder turned full-back previously played for PSV in 2020-2025, where he recently delivered his best club season to date. Ledezma played 38 games for PSV last season and helped the club become Eredivisie champions again.

He joined Chivas from PSV on a free transfer last summer and has since recorded six assists in 22 appearances. Ledezma also played for NYCFC in 2023 during a seasonal loan spell from PSV.

The 22-year-old Guiterrez has also been playing for Chivas with Ledezma since signing a permanent deal from the Chicago Fire this winter. A former Chicago academy product, Gutierrez scored 24 goals in 161 games for the Fire and delivered his best season in 2025 with 11 goals.

Also a former USYNT player, Gutierrez’s only two USMNT caps came in January 2025.

Mexico will certainly be looking at both players ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup on North American soil.
