Despite arguing with three days’ notice, Regina Tarin stole the show UFC Mexico with a beautifully violent brawl against Ernesta Kareckaite.
Both fighters had their moments in the opening round, but it was Tarin who landed the most impactful shots, including a thumping left hook that left Kareckaite on wobbly legs early on. Tarin continued to find success in the second, landing some nasty uppercuts in the cling and easing Kareckaite’s midsection with a handful of well-timed knees.
With just under two minutes left in the verse, Kareckaite appeared to have been broken up after an altercation, although immediate replay revealed this was due to an accidental clash of heads.
With a relatively close second round, both fighters came swinging for the fences in the third. About a minute into the round, Tarin scored her first takedown, grabbing Kareckaite’s back and kicking her leg out from under her. However, Kareckaite immediately jumped back to his feet and reversed the position against the fence before splitting up.

Once back in the center of the Octagonit turned into a battle of wills as both fighters threw shots with reckless abandon. Kareckaite landed quite a few shots that left Tarin’s jaw dropping, but it was Tarin’s non-stop onslaught of uppercuts and a flurry in the final ten seconds that moved the scorecards in her favor.
Official result: Regina Tarin def. Ernesta Kareckaite via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
