The Reds would get a lead -off single from TJ Friedl to start the game, but could not move it further around the bases. Arizona received a lead -off walk in their half of the inning and they benefited from it. Corbin Carroll would double and move Geraldo Perdomo to third base, and then a sacrificial fly set up the diamondbacks with 1-0.

Cincinnati would get a lead -off walk from Noelvi Marte to start the 2nd inning and this time around the Reds could benefit from having a Honkerunner. Ke’bryan Hayes doubled and Marte ran around the bases to score, and Hayes took third when the pitch went to the record. Jose Trevino followed with an RBI who later struck two throws to set up the visiting club with 2-1.

In the second half of the inning, Arizona was able to load the bases, but Zack Littell could come out of the jam with a strikeout to stones all three runners. The next inning did not work in the same way. A walk started with the inning and then Pavin Smith reached a Catchers interference. That set up two men for Gabriel Moreno and after missing the last ten weeks, he welcomed himself back with a 3-run home run to place the diamondbacks for 4-2.

Sam Moll and Connor Phillips would keep Arizona off the board in the 4th and 5th innings. In the 6th inning, Cincinnati would pick up a lead -off triple from Elly de la Cruz and he would come in to score on a groundout that cut the shortage to a run.

Phillips and Brent Ster then combined to keep the score there for the 6th and 7th innings. In the first half of the 8th inning, the Reds Miguel Andujar would send to the plate to squeeze one for Gavin Lux. The move threw off when he doubled in the right field. Elly de la Cruz then continued with a game type single on the right.

Neither of the teams would score in the 9th inning and the competition went to extras. Ke’bryan Hayes started the inning in second place as the Reds Free runner. Jose Trevino put down a bump and it was not a good one, but heer John Curtiss stumbled and tried to make the ball to field fields, recovered, but his hurried throw first went along the bag and let Hayes score at the game and Trevino to be second. Another bump followed and Trevino took the third base, but Trevino would be doubled on the plate after trying to score on a fly to the right when Corbin Carroll released a laser on the plate to end the top of the inning.

Graham Ashcraft took over for Cincinnati in the bottom of the 10th. Alek Thomas started half of the Frame of Arizona as the free runner and he finished third on a successful sacrificial battle. Ketel Marte and Ashcraft then fought 13 throws before Marte hit a blooper in the middle to tie the game. One throw later saw Corbin Carroll site in a double game to end the 10th.

The Reds would see their half of the 11th inning ending in a doubles for the second consecutive inning after Elly de la Cruz walked to Shortstop and TJ Friedl could not return to the third base on time.

Scott Barlow entered the game for Cincinnati in the 2nd time to face the center of the Line -up of Arizona. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Was a single in the middle at the second pitch of the inning and Corbin Carroll scored from the second base without Throw while the Diamondbacks game took one of the series.

Important moment of the game

Maybe it wasn’t squeezing Jose Trevino in the 10th inning when he was in third base. Maybe it was the Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Run single. Choose your own adventure on this.

Notes worth mentioning

The Reds only had six hits in the game and two of them were from Elly de la Cruz – the only batter with more than one hit for the Reds.

The Bullpen van Reds threw seven innings and both runs that scored against them were undeserved. Unfortunately, both runs took place in extra innings.

Following the game manager, Terry Francona said that he “fought” himself about the decision to squeeze Run for Trevino, because it would bring Will Banfield there in a difficult situation to make his MLB debut in extras to catch Ashcraft with a runner who is already on the second base.

The New York Mets won Friday, which means that the Reds are now 1.5 games from the last wildcard spot.
