You browse through Instagram every day and see makers with brand new cars, expensive houses, outfit that people are dead. The burning question is, how are they paid?

The truth is that Instagram does not pay you immediately for having an account or posting photos. In contrast to YouTube, which shares advertisements from videos, the Instagram payment system is more like a toolkit. The platform offers you several ways to make money with your audience, but you have to build the house yourself. But let’s not underestimate this platform and know more about Instagram.

1. The direct methods: Instagram’s Native Monetization Tools

These are functions that were built directly in the app, designed to help you make money from your content and community. Access to most of these requires that you are part of the ****Instagram Partner Program**, those criteria have, such as minimal follower counts, compliance with policy and staying in a supported country. (not every country is available for this program)

  • Rolls play bonus: This was an important program in which Instagram makers paid a bonus based on the performance of their roles. (Sounds like an explosion, isn’t it?) Although the large open bonus program has been phased out for most makers, Instagram often only performs bonus options for selected makers. (who has proven himself as the best). It is still the priority of the platform and is most likely to be rewarded in future programs. It does not mean that you have to make this idea to apply to this, the only advice that gives here is to stroll your skills of making reels.
  • Subscription: This is one of the most powerful and stable tools. Think of it like Patreon or Substack, but built directly in Instagram.

How it works: you offer exclusive content to your most loyal fans for a monthly fee. This can include Subscretes, subscriber stories, subscribers roles and even a special badge next to their name in reactions. Even having 100 loyal fans can make a difference in terms of money you earn.

How you are paid: you keep 100% of the income from subscriptions (after Apple and Android App Store costs are deducted until 2024. Instagram does not take a cut to help makers grow.

  • Gifts (on Haspels and Live): This function allows your followers to support you financially during live videos or on reels by buying and sending ‘gifts’.

How it works: buying fans “Stars” (the virtual currency of Instagram) with real money. They then send these stars as gifts during your content.

How you are paid: you earn part of the income from the stars that your fans buy. You can see your income of gifts in your professional dashboard. Imagine, there are so many people who really like your content and without even asking to buy something, they can get some gifts and therefore make you happy.

  • Badges (in live videos): Just like gifts, badges are a way for viewers to show support during a live video. They buy a badge (which appears next to their name) for a fixed price.

How you are paid: you earn part of the income from the badges that were purchased during your live stream. If you really like to go live and share your thoughts with the community, that is definitely the way to earn money that you will like.

2. The Classic Powerhouse: Brand Partnerships & Sponsored Content

This is the oldest and still the most common way in which makers earn a lot of money on Instagram. It is simple: a brand pays you to make content with their product or service. (Close to affiliate marketing)

  • How it works: you negotiate a fee with a brand to make a message, story, reel or a series of content. The key is to be sure that the partnership is authentic (no scam) and matches your personal brand. (or your display)
  • How you are paid: you invoice the brand directly and they will pay you the agreed amount. This is done outside the Instagram system. (for example via stripe or other platforms).
  • Pro -Tip: Unrolleed content Always with #AD or #sponsored to maintain transparency with your audience and meet FTC guidelines. (It provides clarity about what happens in the reel or in the story)

3. The direct sales route: Affiliate Marketing & Shopable Messages

Why would you simply be paid for a message if you can get a committee for every sale you are driving? That’s all the one who can do almost everyone

  • Affiliate Marketing: You share a special tracking link or a discount code for a product that you like or want to promote. Every time someone uses your link/code to make a purchase, you earn a committee/share. This is fantastic for makers in niches such as fashion, beauty and technology. (But let’s not limit ourselves)

4. Building your own Rijk: Riding traffic off-platform

Experienced makers use Instagram as a megaphone to send traffic to their own money earning companies.

  • Sale of your own products/services: Are you an artist? Link to your Etsy store. A life coach? Direct followers to book a consultation via your link in Bio. A musician? Promote your new album on Spotify. Instagram will be the top of your sales jurisdiction. You can devote your page to everything you want and inform people of you and your brand.
  • You can share several important links the “Link in Bio” economy: tools such as Linktree, Beacons or later’s Link-in-Bio Tool. This is where you can lead traffic to your blog (which may have its own advertisements), your YouTube channel, your podcast or a paid newsletter. The most important point is Instagram is the popular app that people use every day, so why don’t we use it fully?

The Bottom Line: It’s about value, not just followers

Certainly, the number of followers is important on Instagram, but don’t be so scared. A fan base with 10k followers can often be more reasonable and cheaper than having the 100k audience.

Instagram does not issue a salary for existing ones. Your task is to build an audience, offer them value and then use these tools to earn income with that relationship. Imagine that you started dating someone with someone. You have had the first date, then it will be the second. You have to offer value to this person, make them smile, feel good, etc. Whether it is the indigenous functions of Instagram, brand agreements or your own entrepreneurial spirit, the potential to be paid is very real – if you are willing to do the creative work. The same approach is here. You have to work by making reels/stories etc. to impress your audience.

Ready to start? Go to your Instagram settings, view the professional dashboard and see if you are eligible for tools for generating income. Your next message can be the start of your next salary and new life.
