The Red Sox have agreed to a major deal to acquire third baseman Caleb Durbin from the Brewers. The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed this.
Boston will release left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, acquired in the trade for Rafael Devers, along with fellow lefty Shane Dohran and infielder David Hamilton. ESPN reported this.
Infielder Andruw Monasterio, catcher Anthony Seigler and a Competitive Balance Round B pick are also part of Boston’s return, according to The Athletic.
After being tied to a bevy of infielders all offseason, the Red Sox land the 25-year-old Durbin, a former Yankees prospect who finished third in the 2025 Rookie of the Year voting.
Acquired in the Devin Williams deal, Durbin cemented himself in Milwaukee’s starting lineup, slashing .256.334/.387 with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs in 136 games last season.
The departure of third baseman Alex Bregman, who signed a $175 million deal with the Cubs, roiled Boston’s infield.
Durbin, who also has experience at second base and shortstop, will likely take over at hot corner for the Red Sox – who also signed versatile former Yankees infielder Isiah Kinfer-Falefa last week.
To acquire Durbin, Boston sent Harrison, a 24-year-old southpaw who registered a 3.00 ERA in three games for the Red Sox after the Devers trade.
Boston recently shipped flamethrower Jordan Hicks to the White Sox, leaving minor leaguers James Tibbs III and Jose Bello as the only players acquired in the blockbuster that left Devers in the organization.
