2027 recruit Brady Knowledge‘s 42-save performance led Team USA to a 4-2 victory over the CHL in the first game of the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge in Calgary. The NTDP U18s Jamie lookalso a 2027 recruit, played a role in showing speed and a wicked shot that sounded iron. His 20-yard empty-netter secured the victory. 2026 recruit Lucas Schairera 6-foot-4 right-shooting defenseman, played a strong two-way game and assisted on Team USA’s second goal.
Knowling, a U.S.-Canadian citizen who committed to BU in October, earned Player of the Game honors.

UPDATE: The Athletic on Malhotra
The bright spots for Team CHL
I thought captain Caleb Malhotra was Canada’s best player (especially in the second game, where he was excellent) and Remparts forward Maddox Dagenais was their most consistent player.
Malhotra played with poise, kept the pucks and found a way out of trouble when many of his teammates weren’t on this stage, which I think is usually telling in these events. His line with Adam Novotny and Mathis Preston, put together for the third period of Game 1, was the only one that created good looks for long stretches of both games; Preston’s maneuverability on the puck and Novotny’s strength and competitiveness were both largely positive. Malhotra also made some skill plays. Belchetz is still the best forward out of this CHL group for the draft despite his quiet two games, but Malhotra looked like the No. 2 pick.
►►Prior to the Challenge, Malhotra was the subject of a 2026 NHL Draft prospect profile by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic. He is a 6-foot-1 center and the second leading rookie scorer in the OHL with a 10-19-29 mark for the Brantford Bulldogs. He is the son of 16-season NHLer Manny Malhotra and the nephew of two-time NBA champion coach Steve Nash. His skills coach at Brantford, Leland De Langley, said:
Malhotra has developed a “phenomenal” touch and “a great ability to keep tight control of pucks without losing.” He calls his best attribute – “what separates him and why he’s going to have a long career” – his hockey IQ and the way he can use his technique in pressure situations to make good reads. He praises his puck protection and his work in puck battles as something Malhotra has always had. He is fundamentally sound, De Langley said, describing him in the same way as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nico Hischier, but also with “a little more grit in his game” and the pace, aggression and ruthlessness of Sam Bennett, another of his clients.
2026 recruit Tynan Lawrencealso a 5–⭐️ prospect, returned to the Muskegon lineup after missing all but two previous games, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the Lumberjacks’ 6-4 victory over the NTDP U17s. 2027 recruit Carter Meijer had an assist for Team USA.
