The PAC-12 is set to add baseball powerhouse Dallas Baptist as a member of a single sport affiliate member next year, several sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed Athletics. The school starts to play as a congressman in the spring of 2027.
The move comes if the PAC-12 continues to rebuild over several sports. In July, the Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, the state of Texas and Utah State will add in all sports, as well as Gonzaga in all sports, member of Oregon State and Washington State. Athletics Earlier in June reported that the competition also looked at affiliate members such as DBU for sport such as baseball.
DBU has been one of the most consistent programs in the university’s baseball. The team, which currently lives in Conference USA as a member member, has played in 11 consecutive NCAA tournaments, only one of the five active programs to do this, together with LSU, Florida, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State. Coach Dan Heefner has been leading the team since 2008.
“They don’t have an off -years,” said Dbu Aluin and former MLB player Ben Zobrist told Athletics Last year. “It has been so long since they had a chance. Everyone is super proud of what then made there. Look at the track record of boys who become pro. They really develop players.”
The Patriots have reached 13 of the last 14 tournaments after moving to Division I in 2004. They came to Cusa in 2023 after playing in the Missouri Valley Conference. The school has around 4,200 students and plays Division II in its other sports.
PAC-12 member Oregon State is also an eternal competition of the College World Series and reaches the last group earlier this year. The Beavers chose to play an independent schedule last season instead of participating in another conference in the short term. Future PAC-12-member Fresno State has won the last two Mountain West Baseball Tournaments.
ESPN first reported that DBU’s move had been completed.
