RBI data shows robust industrial growth in AP during 2019-2024 and contradicts TDP and JSP allegations, says Jagan

YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the official data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) contradicts repeated allegations made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) regarding the state’s economic and industrial performance during the previous YSRCP government.

In a post on ‘X’ on Tuesday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the TDP and JSP leaders have consistently claimed, both before and after taking power, that “Brand Andhra Pradesh” was destroyed under the YSRCP regime, investors left the state and industrial growth came to a standstill between 2019 and 2024. However, according to RBI data released this month, Andhra Pradesh recorded impressive growth in terms of gross value added (GVA) during the period 2019-2024. In the manufacturing sector, Andhra Pradesh ranked first in South India and fifth nationally, indicating strong performance. Similarly, in terms of overall industrial sector growth, the state ranked first in South India and eighth in India during the same period.

He said these rankings clearly show that Andhra Pradesh’s industrial and manufacturing sectors performed robustly during the YSRCP government, contradicting claims that the state suffered from investor flight or economic stagnation. “If the Andhra Pradesh brand had really been destroyed and its industries collapsed, the state’s performance in manufacturing and industry would have been among the worst. Instead, RBI data places Andhra Pradesh among the best performing states in the country,” he said.

He asserted that the figures reflect the outcome of stable governance and policy-driven growth during his tenure. He questioned whether the narrative of ‘brand AP destruction’ was politically motivated, pointing to the RBI data as evidence of a ‘booming economy, driven by transformative leadership’.

The YSRCP leader demanded that the ruling coalition explain the contradiction between its political rhetoric and officially published economic statistics, stating that facts, and not propaganda, should guide the public debate on Andhra Pradesh’s development.
