More than five years after their first meeting, Alexa Grasso and Maycee Barber are going back at it.Grasso and Barber will face off in a flyweight bout at UFC Seattle – also known as UFC Fight Night 271 – on March 28. Multiple outlets confirmed the link after a first report from RealKevinK on social media. Barber defeated Grasso via unanimous decision in their first meeting at UFC 258 on February 13, 2021. UFC Seattle takes place at Climate Pledge Arena and airs on Paramount+.
Grasso was scheduled to face Rose Namajunas at UFC 324 on January 24, but withdrew from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.
On the Comeback Route
Grasso will be looking for her first win since March 2023, when she upset Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 285 to claim the 125-pound crown. After their rematch ended in a split draw, Grasso lost the trilogy fight via unanimous decision at UFC 306. More recently, the 32-year-old Lobo Gym MMA standout was defeated by rising contender Natalia Silva at UFC 315.
Barber will carry a seven-fight UFC winning streak into the rematch with Grasso. “The Future” returned to the Octagon after more than a year away at UFC 323, where she delivered a unanimous decision over Karine Silva. The 27-year-old has other notable victories against the likes of Kaitlyn Cerminara, Amanda Ribas and Miranda Maverick, to name a few.
