The Rangers will activate Tyler Mahle Of the 60-day injured list for Friday’s series opener against the Marlins. He is mentioned as the likely starter against a still too announced pitcher for Miami. Texas has a fully 40-man schedule and has to point out to someone for an assignment or transfer Marcus -seeds” Nathan Eovaldi or Sam Haggerty to the injured list of 60 days.
Mahle returns from a three -month shoulder injury. He landed on the wounded list in the mid -June and was diagnosed with a rotatorm surchet tribe a few weeks later. Mahle was completely closed for a few weeks and lasted more than two months without going into a competition. He started a rehabilitation assignment at the beginning of September at Triple-A Round Rock. He was bombed for five points in a collection during his first performance. Since then he has deposited 6 1/3 scoreless frames with nine punchouts and three hits.
Texas gets a few starts from Mahle to end the season. He takes on Miami and then one of Minnesota or Cleveland in the last week. It is probably too late to make a difference in the play -off photo. The Rangers came in the week within one and a half match of a play -off place. They had the chance to take the ground on the Astros, which held the last Wild Card position.
Instead, Houston tore off a three-game sweep that probably floats the nail in the coffin. Texas is 4.5 back from the Red Sox and Mariners (now bound for the last two wildcard spots of the AL) with nine games to play. They are two games behind the Guardians, who have the best chance of dismissing one of the top six teams of the American League. The Rangers probably have to go at least 8-1 to have a chance at a play-off berth.
Mahle made 14 starts earlier in the season. He threw a 2.34 running average through 77 innings despite a modest strike output of 18.2%. The 30-year-old Righty was injured for most of his two-year-old free agent deal. Texas knew that Mahle would miss the first half of last season if he rehabilitated from a Tommy John procedure in May 2023. He returned last August, but only got three starts before he was closed for the year with shouldonemak.
Even if Mahle’s return does not make an important dent in the rankings, he welcomes the possibility to take on a few main class -ups before he goes back to a free desk. He will again be limited to offers from one or two years because of the sustainability questions. The speed of Mahle has fallen a tick in his Triple-a-rehabilitation work, although that is probably due to his shortened disaster-up while trying to get back on the hill for a play-off push.
On the Minor League side, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News that writes Kumar -Rocker is planned to throw two innings for Round Rock tomorrow. Since 7 August, the former third general pick has no longer thrown into a triple-a competition. Instead, Texas had him work to change his release point outside a game institution during the past six weeks. The Rangers leave the door open for the recalling Rocker for the MLB schedule before the end of the season. He opened the year in the rotation, but was turned for a 5.74 ERA in a frustrating follow-up to last year’s promising return from Tommy John Surgery.
