CM Office convenes an urgent high-level meeting with the Rajasthan Royals
The issue has become so serious that the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s office has convened an urgent high-level meeting with officials of the Rajasthan Royals. The meeting is expected on February 17 or 18, but it is still not clear whether Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will attend.

The source in the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) official confirmed the same to Times of India. He revealed, “The meeting for Tuesday or Wednesday has been confirmed but whether the CM will attend it or not is still unknown.”
700-page audit report causes shock
The whole drama started after a detailed independent audit of the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. The Royals had asked Tata Projects to carry out this inspection between the end of December and the end of January. They prepared an audit report of approximately 700 pages.
The report reportedly revealed serious errors. It highlighted concerns about the structural strength of some parts of the stadium. It also revealed gaps in fire safety, poor emergency evacuation routes and other safety issues at the site.

The audit checked the stadium against national regulations such as the National Building Code, National Electric Code and fire safety standards. They have found that the stadium does not fully meet the required standards for hosting large crowds during the IPL.
The Rajasthan Royals have sought clear security clearance from the BCCI, IPL Governing Council and state authorities. The franchise said they are ready to continue playing their home matches in Jaipur but only if adequate security clearance is given.

The government is pushing back and calling the stadium safe
However, Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas has written a letter to BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia and stressed that the safety of spectators is their top priority. He also mentioned that a high-level committee, including experts from MNIT and PWD engineers, inspected the stadium.
This committee reportedly found the stadium generally safe and said only minor improvements are needed. These differing views have created confusion and tension between the franchise, the state government and the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
Rajasthan Royals’ home matches are likely to be shifted to Pune
There is a growing fear that if the security issues are not resolved soon, some or all of the Rajasthan Royals home matches for IPL 2026 could be shifted to another city, possibly Pune, and this will be a huge loss to the local business community and the pride of the state.
Recently, Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag was named the new captain of the Rajasthan Royals following the departure of Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2026. Players like Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel were overlooked by the management for the top role.
