Ragtime Red and Huntress worked the give and go and left the starting gate. Huntress settled past the pylons in second and then sprinted past 4/5 betting favorite Ragtime Red, who accepted the pocket trip to quarter pole. Huntress set fractions of 27.2 for the opening quarter. Driver Allan Davis aboard Huntress took full advantage of the single file setup, supporting the half in 56.4 and 29.2 quarters.
Huntress pressed on, eagerly taking the lead, driving to three quarters in 1:24.2 (a 27.3 third quarter). In case you didn’t know, she raced down the backstretch first, but her bid stalled. The others in the field continued to race happily along the masts.
Ragtime Red waited patiently from the pocket and then charged off the cones and into full attack mode at the top of the track. Ragtime Red won by a neck over the mile in 1:52.2. She paid $3.60 for the win.

Huntress finished second and Ballast earned the show spot.

After the race, Ragtime Red’s trainer Don Brittingham responded by saying: “I thought about giving her time off, but she raced great tonight”
Tim Tetrick and Tony Morgan each scored a triple.
The feature race on Thursday evening at Bally’s Dover is the 8th race, $27,500 Blue Hen Open Handicap Pace. Stevens Saloon, last week’s winner, tangles with Itsrockandroll A and Muskateer Hanover.
Bally’s Dover races Monday through Thursday with a first race post at 4:30 p.m.
