The campaign runs from February 1 to March 15 and will see Queensland’s harness racing industry donate $200 for every race won by a female racer in the Sunshine State.
All Queensland women will wear teal trousers to raise awareness for the cause.
Paige Bevan and Taleah McMullen have been announced as Queensland’s Team Teal ambassadors for 2026, joining women’s swimmers from across Australia and New Zealand to support the important cause.
In 2025, Queensland’s female harness racing drivers raised $7,600 for Team Teal, with McMullen finishing equal second on the leaderboard with eight wins.
The driver has also tasted success in the Team Teal Female Drivers Invitation race in recent years, competing in the 2024 event at the Doug Hewitt-trained Infinity Beach.
Last year it was Jordan Topping who claimed victory in the Team Teal Female Drivers Invitation race with the Graham Dwyer-trained Misstrepo.
The Team Teal campaign was created by Duncan McPherson OAM, who lost his wife Lyn to ovarian cancer in 2010.
Mr McPherson co-founded the campaign with fellow harness owners and trainers Michael Taranto and Jim Connelly, as a way to associate their passion for racing with the goal of funding nurses for clinical research.
In partnership with WomenCan, donations from Team Teal will support the Australian and New Zealand Gynecological Oncology Group Survivors teaching students program.
The program trains future medical professionals to improve the diagnosis and care of women with gynecological cancer.
