Qualcomm starts to be serious with the wearable: a new chip that finally comes

Qualcomm is working on the next chip for wearablesAnd it could be the performance “bladder” that serves the wearer’s smartwatches to seriously threaten Apple Watch. The colleagues of Android Authority support it, even if it is not entirely clear what their source is, but it must be said that they are generally very reliable. Qualcomm has not updated the chips for smartwatches for years: the Snapdragon Wear 5 was released in 2022 and from that moment nothing was released. Let’s say that times are definitely mature for something new.

According to the newspaper, the chip in processing internal Snapdragon Wear 6100 or, abbreviated, is called SW6100. It is not an iterative update of previous chips, as always with all previous generations, but A practically completely new productAnd designed with much more care, attention and precision than in the past. In short, the Snapdragon chips are so far adapted versions of those for smartphones – perhaps made on more refined buttons, and with a part added or removed according to the needs. But these changes were also made with existing chips and designs, so that elements in substantial elements are assembled by third parties. This time, however, Qualcomm would be much more “than its”, so to speak. The theory is that this can guarantee better integration between the parts of the chip, which can be more efficient and present.

But let’s go to the specific technical data, starting at the CPU. There are five cores: A powerful cortex-a78 and four more parsimonosis. They are certainly not the most recent design on the square, but they are a great step forward compared to what is available in the Snapdragon W5 (four Cortex-A53, design that none other than presents in 2012). It is interesting to note that this new configuration is exactly the same as it chosen by Samsung for the Exynos W1000 that we have already seen in the Galaxy Watch 7 and which also comes to the Galaxy Watch 8, just presented.

The production process is TSMC, but it is not known which. Then we have the Last and faster RAM support, the LPDDR5X Against the LPDDR4, and a completely non -published coverage has also been released, QCC6100 code, of which you know absolutely nothing, at least for the moment. Unfortunately for now we have to stop here, but it is clear that we can finally expect a nice step forward for the Google platform. When? We hope not only later than next year …
