The tape-out phase refers to one of the final phases in the semiconductor design process, before the product is formally transferred to the production phase.
The event took place at Qualcomm’s facility in Bengaluru and during the visit of Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw.
“The Qualcomm Bengaluru campus serves as a key technical center for developing next-generation wireless, AI, computing and systems technologies,” the company shared in a press release.
Qualcomm highlighted that its presence in India spanned more than two decades of continuous investment, noting its technical development centers in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The company cited India’s emergence as a “critical hub” for the development of advanced semiconductors and emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic chip design capabilities.

“India is increasingly central to how advanced semiconductor technologies are designed for the future. It is truly impressive to see Qualcomm’s work here, its technical strength, deep design capabilities and long-standing commitment to India. Milestones like these demonstrate how far the Indian design ecosystem has come and strongly align with our vision to build a globally competitive semiconductor industry,” said Mr. Vaishnaw.
