After a heavy loss in PittsburghDrake Maye and the Patriots bounced back in a dominant way with an eruption victory over the Panthers in week 4. Maye still delivered a strong outing, with a high level of efficiency. The second-year Quarterback has quietly one of the more consistent artists in his position and starts to show why he was the number 3 overall choice in the 2024 NFL concept.

Maye’s 74.9 passing figure was his second highest of the season and marked his third game in four weeks with a passing figure above 73.0. Although the box score numbers may not jump off the page, Maye has consistently made the right lectures and only recorded two negative graduate throws.
One of Maye’s biggest strengths that came from the university was his arm power and overall arm talent. He continues to show this in the NFL and effortlessly provides speed to all parts of the field.

The above game was a relatively simple decision, in which the Panthers in Man -coverage and Stefon Diggs neatly won on his route. However, the pitch itself is still impressive.
Maye does an excellent job to fill his body to make the throw and then shows off the field with his arm talent with a difficult pass. The place of the ball is perfect, gets Diggs in the pass and can allow extra recruiting after the catch.
Maye excelled the whole season on these types of throws. Throwed on fits 10 or more meters Downfield, 83.7 passing figure and 61.4% are adjusted completion rate both in the top 10 of the NFL.
Arm -power is only one element of playing quarterback, but Maye has shown that he is really starting to understand how to dissect NFL defenses.
About as good as a pass of 5 meters that you can have from Maye. Throw the blitz and tear a laser just before the hook defender can get there pic.twitter.com/tianqa8p6d

This pass perhaps only went 8 meters, but this was one of Maye’s most impressive throws on Sunday.
A way to beat the Blitz is to throw in immediately, aimed at the field of the field that has disappeared due to the pressure. That is exactly what Maye does here on a key third in the red zone. He quickly diagnoses the Blitz and starts his throwing movement before the recipient is out of his break, both the route and his arm power trusts. If he even leaves a second, the pass will probably become incomplete. It is a short throw, but the required mental processing and timing make it very impressive.
Maye came from the university and was known for his ability to attack the center of the field with layered, anticipatory throws, and he carried it to the NFL. His 50 completes above the middle rank celebrated under all the quarterbacks this season.
These types of throws require elite anticipation, which is exactly what makes them so difficult to do.

When the Panthers rotate 3 -look in a lid, Maye identifies the deep crossing route correctly when the most likely opens. To ensure that the bottom line does not float too deeply and removes it, Maye manipulates the defender with his eyes – looking back at the recoil back to the Linebacker to pull the Linebacker closer to the line of scrimmage. He then delivers a perfectly placed throw just behind the defender on the third and long.
The Bottom Line
The long -term success of the Patriots depends on the development of Drake Maye, and through four games he is trending in a very positive direction.
He plays with impressive efficiency – avoiding negative plays, the consistent delivery of the ball on time and making smart decisions. Maye has reduced the whimsical mistakes that appeared at the university and early in his Rookie season and now leads New England to dominant victories.
