Punjab National Bank on Saturday reported a 14 percent increase in net profit for the July-September quarter (Q2 of financial year 2025-26). The bank cited steady business growth, improved asset quality and robust digital adoption as reasons for the increase.
In a stock exchange filing, the bank said its net profit stood at over ₹4,900 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal, compared to over ₹4,300 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Net interest income (NII) was slightly lower at over ₹ 10,400 crore, versus over ₹ 10,500 crore
PNB’s gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio fell to 3.45 percent from 3.78 percent in the previous quarter. The net NPA ratio stood at 0.36 percent, compared to 0.46 percent. The coverage ratio of the provisions improved from 96.67 percent a year earlier to 96.91 percent.
The bank reported strong growth in global business, which rose 10.6 per cent year-on-year to ₹27.86 lakh crore, driven by advances and deposit growth. CASA (Current Account-Saving Account) deposits rose 4.7 per cent year-on-year to ₹5.83 lakh crore, with a CASA ratio of 37.29 per cent.
Total progress reached Rs 11.69 lakh crore, led by retail, agriculture and MSME segments. Retail loans, excluding IBPC, grew by 18.1 percent, including 12.9 percent growth in home loans and 30.9 percent in auto loans.
The bank also highlighted strong progress in digital banking initiatives, with digital transactions growing 31 percent year-on-year to Rs 313 crore, UPI transactions through PNB One increasing 53 percent and WhatsApp Banking users almost doubling to 83.4 lakh.
Operating profit in July-September stood at ₹7,227 crore and ₹14,308 crore in April-September (H1) FY26, registering a growth of 5.46 per cent and 6.51 per cent year-on-year, respectively.
Total Q2 revenues stood at ₹36,214 crore and ₹73,445 crore in H1FY26, registering year-on-year growth of 5.1 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively.
It also said that revenue per employee improved to ₹27.62 crore in September 2025 from ₹25.26 crore a year ago. Revenue per outlet improved from ₹240.72 crore to ₹263.06 crore.
