Also unveiled at the Proton Tech Showcase launch today at Proton’s Center of Excellence in Shah Alam were future models. We will describe the AMA models in a separate story soon; this story focuses on the upcoming X/S models, namely the X70 MC3, X90 MC and S70 MC facelifts.
Born in 2018, the X70 was Proton-Geely’s first child. In 2022, the SUV changed from a four- to a three-cylinder engine (MC1), and in 2025 the MC2 was launched, with a new face and a larger screen. This appears to have done little to boost sales of the aging SUV (it’s not even in the top 20 year to date) and the ‘MC3’ designation suggests another facelift rather than an all-new model.

We continue with the X90 and S70, both of which are eagerly awaiting their first facelift. The latest Geely Haoyue/Okavango facelift looks quite nice powerfuland, like the X50 facelift, has LED projector headlights and continuous taillights. Here is the hope. The S70 MC, you’ve seen them tested on the road.
Proton has also all but confirmed that all three models will go from three to four cylinders, just like the X50 facelift. Once the old GEP3 TGDi engines are depleted, the new i-GT BHE15TD mill from the X50 facelift, which the Tanjong Malim plant is already running at full capacity, will be placed in the engine bays of these three models. Proton didn’t give a timeline, but next year is a good bet, don’t you think?
