Protests broke out after the Post Falls District School Board from Idaho has suspended various football players for ten days and kicked them from the team for a photo that showed an AirSoft gun.

CREAM reported That the photo “reportedly reflects 2 students who point to Airsoft weapons, dressed in Coeur d’Alene High School clothing.”

The Post Falls Police Department says that they were ‘informed’ of the photo 4 September, and ‘found that no laws were violated and there were no criminal prosecution against the students’.

The spokesperson spokesperson quoted Post Falls Patrol Lt. Brian Harrison who says: “As a parent of teenagers, what I would not want to see, is normalizing things like what is depicted in that photo. Especially in this time you see the city appearing after the city with school sheaths or things like that.

Post Falls School District Board policy makes expulsion for weapons on campus possible, even ‘simulated weapons’. The board opted for a ten -day suspension and kicked the team players.

Parents and students protested on Tuesday and noticed that some players were seniors and now miss their year to play football and be visible to university scouts.

The school board has released a letter that partially said: “We know that the Post Falls community has questions about the recent disciplinary measures that the board have taken. Please know that we hear you, but because of the federal law we cannot share details about disciplinary matters in which students are involved.”
