Promoters make money in 2025: Airtel, IndiGo among stocks with highest sales at up to Rs 44,000 crore

Promoter sales rose to record levels in 2025, crossing Rs 1.5 lakh crore and surpassing last year’s peak of Rs 1.43 lakh crore. While the sharp increase has raised concerns among some investors, market veterans say the trend is more nuanced than the numbers suggest. This is the third year in a row where promoter stake sales have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore, according to data from Prime Database. Here is a list of the top 10 stocks whose promoters have cut their holdings the most.Bharti Airtel – One of India’s top telecom players tops the list of promoters selling in 2025, with promoters selling shares worth Rs 44,682 crore during the year. Indian Content Investment and Pastel were the sellers, data from PRIME Database showed.

Indigo – India’s largest airline, with a market share of over 60%, ranked second and witnessed promoter sales of Rs 14,497 crore by 2025. Data showed that Chinkerpoo Family Trust and Rakesh Gangwal were the sellers.AWL Agri – Promoters sold shares worth Rs 11,064 crore in 2025, making the company one of the big names with significant share dilution. PRIME Database shows that Adani Commodities, a subsidiary of Adani Group, was the sales promoter.

Vishal MegaMart – The Indian retail chain saw a promoter selling Rs 10,220 crore in 2025. Samayat Services is the promoter and the deal took place on June 17. Shares are up 30% since the start of the year.

Agility India – The company recorded promoter sales worth Rs 6,341 crore in 2025. Sagility BV executed the deal on November 14. The company’s shares are up 30% in the past six months.

Bajaj Finserv – The Nifty Major saw promoters offloading shares worth Rs 5,506 crore in 2025. Jamnalal Sons, Bajaj Holdings and Investments were the two promoter vendors. Both deals were executed on June 6, 2025.Emphasis – Promoter sales in Mphasis stood at Rs 4,726 crore by 2025. BCP Topco executed the deal last month on November 18. The company’s shares are up more than 5% in the past month and are flat year-over-year.

Aptus Value Home Financing – The company saw promoters sell shares worth Rs 3,912 crore over the course of 2025. Westbridge Crossover Fund executed the deals on two separate dates: September 4 and June 4, data showed.

Cohance Life Sciences – The company recorded promoter sales of Rs 3,094 crore in 2025. Jusmiral Holdings was the seller, records showed. In the September quarter, the company reported a sharp 52% ​​year-on-year decline in net profit to Rs 66.4 crore, while revenue fell 8% to Rs 555 crore.

Hindustani Zinc – The company rounds out the list, with promoter sales worth Rs 3,028 crore by 2025. Vedanta, the parent company which has a 61.84% stake in the company, was the selling promoter. Thanks to record silver prices, the stock has risen almost 30% in the past month.
