After 27 years, production of the Ford Focus has ended Coachwith reference to the German broadcaster Saarland radio and social media posts by manufacturer employees.
News of the Focus’ discontinuation emerged in 2022 and the model’s demise was confirmed in March this year, following the demise of other iconic models from the Blue Oval, namely the Mondeo in 2021 and the Fiesta in 2023.
A new mid-size crossover expected to debut in 2027 will fill the gap in Ford’s product lineup left by the Focus, although it won’t replace the Kuga, which will instead remain on sale alongside the new model. Currently, other models are taking the place of the Focus: the Explorer and the Capri, both EV crossovers based on Volkswagen’s modular MEB architecture.

By dropping the Focus and Fiesta, Ford has left behind two of its largest volume players in Europe Coach; The report quoted European automakers’ association ACEA as saying that Ford had gone from Europe’s second-largest car brand in 2015 to 12th last year.
The manufacturer is working on a plan to regain its position at the top of the European market, and has appointed former Focus and Kuga model line manager Jim Baumbick as its first dedicated head of Europe in three years, the report said.
One of his key responsibilities is to “develop products that are relevant to European customers,” Ford said. The end of the line comes after the end of the fourth-generation model, which made its debut in 2018 and offered three body styles and petrol and diesel engines throughout its life cycle.
