A Harness Racing Prizemoney Bonanza worth almost $ 1 million will be offered for the best WA-Foked Pacers in a Power-Pack racing card in Gloucester Park on Friday evening.
The second annual “W Night” – which will again celebrate the Westbred Pacers of the State – has attracted Bumpervelden, with 120 local runners who have set it for $ 924,000 in Prizemoney.
Racing WA-head of harness racing and special projects Cameron Brown said that a decision until this year included two respective $ 100,000 four-year-old races for Colts and Velders and Fillies and Mares, had added more momentum to the night with a Race Prizemoney of up to $ 215,000.
The event will also contain a WA valuation function.
“The second edition of W Night is to shape to be the best so far,” said Brown.
“We have added the two four -year functions this year and it seems to be a stunning evening of racing. It shows how important it is to be Westbred and emphasizes what a great breeding schedule it is.
“The quality of our western shares gets better every year.”
The Aiden de Campo-Train wishing Belle and Ideal Beach, from the Justin Prentice Stables, are a few western two-year-olds who are in the spotlight again on Friday evening and seem to have large futures ahead.
Another Westbred star, recent $ 1 million barrier breaker Mighty Ronaldo, will also be in action again in the third race in the night. Also under the astute guidance of Prentice, the Evergreen seven-year-old last month passed the magical million dollar marking to join Vultan Tin and David Hercules as WA-Bred Pacers to have achieved the Prizemoney performance.
Mighty Ronaldo was sold for only $ 22,000 in the sale of Perth Yearling and co-owner Glen Mortimer, who also has a share in the ideal beach, said that the gelding was a catalyst for Westbred Pacers.
“It was a great journey with Mighty Ronaldo,” said Mortimer.
“It is a real proof of Justin Prentice to be able to go to a yearling sale to buy an unknown Westbred and he appears to be a millionaire. That is quite special compared to buying a proven horse that has already won races.
“You would just love a stable full of horses like him, because you know what you’re going to get … He just tries it. He is already really durable at the highest level in the highest level and hopefully the old boy will have a few years left in him.
“We are now breeding to a different level of stallion in WA and that has made a huge difference. The quality of the western breed has improved the ten -fold in the past 10 or 20 years.”
Mortimer is also a co-owner in Westbred Pacers Elite Fleet and Ruby Lovera, who will both race for the Great Prizemoney on W Night.
Gloucester Park Chief Executive Officer Michael Radley agreed that the Western quality had improved considerably in the past decade and he was unclear that it was still improving.
“Our top breeders have developed great breeding mood lines and go to the best sires in the world,” Radley said.
“Mighty Ronaldo has just breaked the $ 1 million in the effort and has raced at the highest level since he was two years old against other large wa-bred horses such as Lavra Joe. This year’s harvest looks excellent, with the wishes of Belle a striking in Merries and ideal beach with a number of top class boys.”
The first race at W Night starts at 5.22 pm.
