Preview: Rays vs White Sox

The tampa bay rays do it. They actually do it.

That was my lead in the sense of the series review on Thursday when the rays had to be ready to take on the Cleveland Guardians. Now the rays have to win almost every matchup from this point to have the hope of reaching the after season after dropping three of the four to Cleveland.

It will generally take about 87 victories to reach the play -offs; For the rays to reach that plateau, they must win at least 16 of their next 19 games, a profit percentage .842. So at least there is still a chance.

Regarding the actual classification, the rays are 71-72, 4.5 games back of the Wildcard and have three teams between them and the Seattle Mariners.

Now the Rays schedule has them spent a week in Chicago, where they take it in the south and North Siders about a Six Game Stretch, starting with the White Sox. Chicago took two of the three from Tampa Bay after the All-Star Break, but are currently the worst team in the American League with a record of 55-89.

The rays will see former top perspective Curtis Mead with his new team; The Aussie Infielder hits .274/.324/.337 with 0 hours before Chicago since he is traded for Adrian Houser at the Deadline. The White Sox has a selection filled with slightly above players of the replacement level and a budding core that could push them to success in the near future. Colson Montgomery is excellent more than 53 games (128 WRC+ | 2.0 fwar), just like Kyle Teel more than 62 games (131 WRC+ | 1.8 fwar). Those two players are the key to future success for Chicago.

The pitching is a mess and it is what currently stops White Sox from being more respectable. The staff is currently led by Shane Smith, who has been given a solid season. Mike Vasil and Brandon Eisert, two players who had the rays on their 40-man selection in the spring training, are a few weapons that have the white SOX use in situations with high leverage. Jordan Lasure has taken over the closing tasks.
