We have achieved what is perhaps the crucial series of the 2025 ray season …
At least for now.
The Tampa Bay Rays continue with their two -week trip to the west by traveling north to Seattle, because they are confronted with the Mariners in a three -game set.
The rays come from a much needed series victory on the Los Angeles Angels; It was the first time that the rays won consecutive games since the end of June. This improved the Rays record to 57-59 and 4.5 games from the 3rd Wild Card place with three teams between them and the New York Yankees.
In the meantime, the Mariners will play on Friday in playing the Chicago White Sox and winners of four consecutive. This has enabled them to slide into the second wildcard spot with a 1.5 game advantage compared to the Yankees.
The Mariners were led this season by Cal Raleigh, an MVP hopeful behind the record that Aaron Judge’s Al Single-Season HR marking can challenge. The Switch-Hitting Backstop comes in on Friday with .248/.356/.583 with 42 HR, with a 158 WRC+ and 6.2 Fwar built more than 113 games this season. Raleigh was supported this season by former Ray Randy Arozarena (3.2 FWRA | 134 WRC+), who has submitted a 20-20 campaign and has just tied his career in HR. Julio Rodriguez has also been increasing lately and is up to 3.5 fwar in the season. The Mariners also added two batters to their line -up at the Handelsdeadline in Josh Nayor and Eugenio Suarez (Naylor can go on the il with shoulder pain).
In the meantime, the Mariners have one of the best start rotations in baseball and the rays will be confronted in Bryan Woo and Luis Castillo, both of them, who have excellent seasons. The bullpen is about as lockdown as with Andres Munoz, Gabe Speier and Matt Brash are one of their most reliable arms this season.
