The Spanish champions are looking to bring in a new centre-back this summer, amid the current absence of Ronald Araujo due to mental health issues and Andreas Christensen’s contract expiring.
Barcelona want to sign a long-term partner for Pau Cubarsi and have the Premier League trio on their shortlist, according to Sports world.
Guehi and Konate appear to be the most immediate signings for Hansi Flick’s side, with both out of contract in the summer. Barcelona can approach both players in January on a pre-contractual agreement, but will face competition from clubs across Europe. Liverpool saw a deal for Guehi fall through in the summer and are expected to renew that interest.
Gvardiol fits the profile of the player Barcelona would like, but it appears to be a difficult deal to complete. The Croatian international is under contract with Manchester City until 2027 and is seen as an important part of the club’s long-term future.
City signed the 23-year-old on a £77m contract from RB Leipzig in 2023, making him the second most expensive defender in history. The Citizens are keen to tie Gvardiol, who has shone after returning to a central defender role this season, to a new contract.
Other names reportedly being considered in Catalonia include Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck and Inter Milan’s Alessando Bastoni.
