Two Premier League clubs are reportedly vying to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The teenager, who turns 20 next week, has made just four appearances off the bench in the Premier League this season and is looking for minutes elsewhere.

The Blues have been looking for a successor for the winger since the summer. A £22million deal with Fulham fell through on Deadline Day.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are “currently leading the race” to sign George after he sent a loan proposal with an option to buy. They are looking for a wide forward after Jack Grealish was ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.

“Discussions are ongoing” between the Toffees and Chelsea, amid interest from numerous clubs in the youngster.

Sky Sports News reports that Sunderland are among the teams “showing interest” in George, with clubs from Spain, France and Italy also looking to sign him.

After Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, Everton boss David Moyes refused to comment on their approach for George, but did say there was a possibility they could make a late signing before the window closes on Monday.

“Yes, I do [think there’s a chance]he said. ‘But don’t have a big headline saying that he thinks it’s coming, because it might not happen, and then we’ll disappoint people.

“It’s always better to keep you under the radar instead of saying yes.”
