Premier League clubs are circling as Neves plans a move away from Saudi Arabia

A host of Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Ruben Neves, with the midfielder keen to leave Al-Hilal.

The former Wolves captain is keen to retire from the Saudi Pro League and return to Europe after two seasons in the Middle East. Neves joined Al-Hilal from Wolves for a fee of £47 million and won the Pro League during his debut season at the club.

However, he is now keen to pursue a European return, which many major clubs are keen on. Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur claims that Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are ‘closely monitoring his situation’, although no formal contact has been made. Turkey’s Super Lig clubs face strong competition, with rival interest from England and Italy.

According to the report, Manchester United, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham are all considering a possible deal.

Neves made 177 appearances in the Premier League during his six-season stay at Wolves, and was appointed club captain following the departure of Conor Coady. Ahead of his departure from Molineux, the Portugal international discussed his desire to compete in the Champions League.

“Let’s see what will happen. I always say the same thing, I really like being here (Wolves). But I never hide that I want to play Champions League football,” Neves told Sky Sports in 2023.

“In football you have to go for your main goals and that will be a huge decision for me and my family.”
