Watching this Newcastle team against Spurs.
Our next match in the Premier League.
Newcastle United wants to achieve three Premier League victories in a row.
While if United take the three points tonight, it would also be seven home wins in a row, in all competitions.
A win tonight would also see Eddie Howe’s side climb into the top half of the table.
As a reminder, this was the Newcastle team against Everton:
Ramsdale, Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Barnes, Elanga, Woltemade
Eddie Howe provided an update on the injury and availability for the team on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s match.
It appears at least five Newcastle United players will not be involved against Spurs, with Nick Pope and Sven Botman joining Yoane Wissa, Will Osula and Kieran Trippier.
So when you take all that into consideration…
This is my predicted Newcastle team vs Spurs:
Ramsdale, Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hal, Tonali, Bruno, Miley, Barnes, Elanga, Woltemade
A difficult one to call this.
If my prediction comes true, it would mean just one change from Everton on Saturday, Sandro Tonali coming on for Joelinton.
It’s always difficult to guess Eddie Howe, but the only substitutions he made before time was added were to rest Elanga and Barnes with twenty minutes to go.
My thinking was that that was possibly done so he could give them every opportunity to be as fresh as possible and also start against Spurs.
I think Sandro Tonali needed that shift on Saturday and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start tonight. Normally, most fans would assume that Lewis Miley would be the one to make way, but he played very well on Saturday (as did almost all of his teammates), and I now think Joelinton (he wasn’t substituted at all on Saturday) starting three games in a week isn’t ideal to keep him at his best.
Ramsdale, Thiaw and Burn certainly seem to be playing, I thought.
Although both Hall and Livramento played over 90 minutes on Saturday, I think Eddie Howe believes they are both capable of starting again tonight.
It certainly wasn’t a piece of cake when Newcastle United won 4-0 against Everton, but I do wonder if it was still a performance that didn’t demand as much from the players as, say, the one against Man City, when there were also only three days before the next match.
So apart from Tonali for Joelinton, it’s no surprise to me if ten of the starters against Everton are also in this Newcastle team against Spurs.
